I have marked up some pics to show the issues. I have used MJ's pics since his bar mounts are the same as mine. I'm guessing these issues would affect MJ's install too apart from the missing chassis hole on the driver's side, that looks to be a KDSS or Kakadu related issue.

Fido why couldn't they fit them like Ages? That way no overlap since Ages bar mount and mine look the same. Sorry to hear about the fall hope for a rapid recovery.

Remember that in Ages case they have left out one of the bolts at the top of the point in order to fit the OI points. On the driver's side it wouldn't matter on a Kakadu/VX since they only use one bolt at the top of the bullbar mount anyway due to KDSS. This doesn't fix the passenger side issue though where both top bolts need to be in place on the bullbar mount. There wasn't much point fitting only 1 point, they are designed to work in pairs.

Thanks Jasen but don't you have a Smartbar? Some of the issues I'm having are caused by the bullbar mount on my TJM T13 bar. I'm not sure how your bar mounts up to the chassis, you don't seem to have a central support bracket like mine.

Have heard back from Roadsafe and will be heading out there early next week to go over the points. My contact there says it's the outermost 2 holes that are supposed to be used for the 150; I have pointed out the conflicting info in their install guide.

Looks like you need a recovery. Gravity is the other way.

Fido I hope they can sort it out. The points are plasma cut so there shouldn't be a big deal modifying the shape to suit the Kakadu. And I don't trust bike tyres without lumps, I am a Yeti boy as per avatar.

I will have a closer look at mine but I suspect there is a washer under the plate to let it sit flat.

Where these photos taken prior to the smartbar fitment? Just curious as my smart bar(with winch mount) bracket sits under the lower bolt hole. I then used a few large washers to fit under the upper bolt hole so it fits flush and parallel with the chassis rail.

So is there any sort of gap between the points and the chassis rail? I was told this could cause the points to shear off at the bolt and that's why packing out with washers was not recommended.

Yes there is a small gap between points and chassis rail. I would suggest that there is similar amount of sheer force on the bolt whether the points sit flush or not as long as the bolts are tight. Its certainly better than having the recovery point on an angle to the chassis rail.

The guys at Mannell Motors also suggested that I use a washer behind it too when I purchased it from them.

In the end, I didn't really see any other practical option when fitting these in my situation with the smart bar bracket going to the lower mount point.

Fido packing out the recovery shouldn't be an issue as long as the plates are straight and the bolts are tensioned correctly.

I was just going on what the TJM guys told me, I'm no engineer. I'll ask Roadsafe about that when I pay them a visit next week.

G'day Ken, no the photos were taken post smartbar install.

Mine is not a winch bar so there are no brackets to contend with.

Off topic question, did you fit the sonar kit to your bar? I bought the kit but saw it fitted on another car and thought it looked terrible. Jasen

No, I didnt fit the sonar kit, mines a GXL so it was going to be an extra. Personally, I find that its much easier to know where the front of the vehicle is once it has a bull bar on it so I didnt bother with front park assist.

Interesting to see the difference with a winch mount smartbar. Mine has the small crumple sections on the front of the chassis rail removed and the substantial bracketry mounts on to it, to house the winch. It also mounts to the lower bolt holes like the steel bull bars..... which is why I had to pack out the recovery points.
