I upgraded my 120 to a 150 series in December 2018. About Mar h 2019 a tapping noise appeared that seems to be coming from the front passenger door pillar around the upper seatbelt mount.
i raised it at the 6 month service with the dealer. When I picked the car up they could hear the noise but couldn't diagnose the cause. They asked me to book the car in for a full day so they could investigate, which I did.
They ended up having the car for two weeks. (Courtesy car provided) They removed all the interior trim and headlining, lights and vents and seemed to think it was coming from the curtain airbag bracket which they replaced. The noise was still there. So a lot of head scratching going on with the dealer and Toyota technicians.
i ended up cracking it and asked them to replace the car.. The next day they said they had fixed it and had test driven the car several times with no tapping noise.
I picked the car up the next day and halfway home the noise started again. So I lodged a case with the Toyota "Guest Experience Centre". They asked what I was wanting to resolve the issue. I said I just want the problem fixed or replace the car!
Ive also contacted the service manager of the dealer who said they don't know what to do next and are waiting for advice from Toyota Technicians.
its been a week and still nothing. Had a call from the guest experience people to say they are still investigating the problem.
The dealer and Toyota are saying that they can hear the tapping and they've made a video of it, but they haven't had this issue before and seem unsure what to do next.
i doubt Toyota are going to replace the car just over a tapping noise and I have the issue that I've put on about $7000 worth of after market mods.
The tapping noise sounds like an old typewriter (queue the jokes..."whats a typewriter ). It seems to happen when the car is thrown off camber more than on bumps.
Has anyone else experienced this?
