My 120 had the same problem, I found this out on the Oodnadatta track. Added some extensions and moved on. The stone chips are character building.

I Agree with D4D - It's a problem, we now know about it and clearly Toyota are'nt going to do anything about it.

So either fit some unsightly extentions or better yet spend all of about $25 on some 3M paint protection film and apply it to the rear bumper corners and bottom of front doors.

Its virtually invisible and supprisinly tough.

I've done it to mine and very happy with it

Heres a link for you, its from the US but only took 5days to arrive

[quote="Silvo"]i have done quite some kilometres on the road with the Gravel Rush flaps, and have some pics for you guys.. you can see exactly how much crap is on the inside of the flap, and then the body if untouched. more thorough testing soon as i head in the oodnadatta track.

          Hi Folks

I have a set of the Gravel Rush mudflaps and have done over 4000kms of dirt since putting them on, not one stone chip and they keep the mud of as well. The guys at Gravel Rush were fantastic to deal with and will now have them available for the 150 series.

          Regards, Richo.

i believe they are available, the boys at GR will be getting some good quality pics up on their new website soon.

i've since used these in heavy mud conditions and tried to get some photos of mud on the car, but the problem is they work too well.

Was in Mackay ARB on the week-end. They stock 'Bushranger' plain black mud flaps for $51 a set that really look the goods. According to the packaging they come in three sizes. The ones I looked at were 302 mm wide by 500mm long (I think). The way I look at them they are perfect for extending the everso short Prado flaps.

Just another option if Toyota don't want to paly the game.

                    regards

                    Peter

Here we go, the Gravel Rush ones are available now. Quite a few already ordered as i understand it.

                      I'm hoping this link works.
                      https://docs.google.com/uc?export=do...&revision=true

The problem with the Bushranger flaps is they are not flexible enough to take a hit, and bounce back to their spot without damage to the existing flap.

I've dropped down rock steps with the GR ones, and had no problems. I drive them into gutters often with issue

Made these for my 120 series out of scrape pieces of steel and rubber sheet from Clark Rubber. Cost $10. Be carefull not to mount to close to the rear of the tyre as when you reverse the mudflap can become caught and rip off. This has kept my bumper free from rock damage, as my previous 120 had nearly lost all the paint.

I have posted some pics of the mudflaps in the following. Have not looked under a 150 but one might think it would be similar.
