  • Toyota prado 150 series squeaking sound please help

First of all hello everyone. I am writing to you from the Ivory Coast. I hope I am trying to describe my problem in the right place. I apologize in advance if there is any mistake. I hope I can solve the squeaking sound problem coming from my car with your help.

my vehicle is 2017 year of manufacture Toyota prado. manual and diesel fuel. ( If necessary, I can give more detailed technical information about the vehicle.)

After a while (about 5-10 minutes) after my vehicle starts to run and I move, a noise comes from under the vehicle. It's like a belt sound, but I'm sure it's not a belt sound. The sound is heard when the vehicle exceeds 20 km/h and cuts out when it reaches 50-60 km/h. When driving for a long time, the sound starts to come on all the time. It does not cut off after 50-60 km/h. When the speed is below 15-20 km/h, the sound stops and even if the vehicle is running, there is no sound when it does not move. The sound is heard whether the vehicle is in gear or not while in motion. What is the solution to this sound that sounds like a cricket sound from the underside of the vehicle? I suspect it may be coming from the shaft part.

Sounds like the same issue I had with my vehicle. The noise would start once the speed is above 80km/h and would occasionally disappear if I hit certain bumps.
My issue turned out to be the rear handbrake shoes that were no longer disengaging due to mud/dirt and some light corrosion on the pivot points. The internal surface of the rear disc brake where the handbrake shoes mate were also glazed.
I cleaned the whole assembly, de-glazed the surface, lubricated all the point outlined in the manual and adjusted the handbrake cable in-cab and the adjuster mounted to the bottom of the brake shoes.

After all that, the issue never came back.
