  • Prado Pre-Collision Safety (PCS) System

    Dear all, greetings
I wonder if anybody had a chance to test this system's abilities & if it performs as it claims? The new Honda Pilot is equipped with a similar system called "Honda Sense" which users claim is behaving nuts during normal driving conditions due to potholes on highways!
I believe the Pre-Collision Safety (PCS) System is only on the Kakadu trim.
Thanks in advance for your time

I haven't had a chance to test this (hope I never had to) but I did notice some unexpected breaking few times even when the car at the signal in front is easily 30 - 50 metres away (and i was not slowing down). when it happens it was scary though. Also the radar cruise control is not perfect either which breaks unexpectedly when the lane is clear but there are cars on the adjacent lanes. Would like to hear others experiences with these..

      It works well.
Have had it happen with kangaroos, and a truck the changed lanes just in front of me in Adelaide one trip.
Brakes come on front seat belts lock up with the pre tensioners. They take a couple of seconds to release after all is clear.
The seat belts gave a shock on how tight they were the first time.
Kangaroo was on cruise and it was a big one bent over, when it stood up the PCS took over, it was about 100 yards or just less away sitting on 110kms.
The truck was starting to cut me off less than a car length away, multi lane road and I was in the right hand lane.
      Cheers

I too can say it works. Had a couple of kangaroos jump out in front of me on the way (Perth foothills) to work this morning. The PCS must have kicked given the amount of braking applied and I felt the seat belt tighten up and release again once the road had cleared. What impressed me was that the second roo was a tick behind the first one and the PCS kicked in a second time in rapid succession - I'm sure it beat me to the brake peddled.
        Oh what a feeling!

        Cheers,
        Al

My first experience with PCS was when a car pulled out of a driveway in front of me, at the time I had a broken right colar bone so as the seatbelt pulled tighter and tighter I had to slide out from behind lt while still delicately steering the car, and yes it does feel as though it brakes far greater than I would have. Since then I have discovered that if you move from the accelerator to brake pedal quickly the PCS seat belts activate, handy for pissing the passenger off.

Might be under the dash if they haven't changed it from the earlier models, stand outside the drivers door and look up inline and above the brake pedel on the black unfill panel.
