Brake Test - Safe-T-Stop

My MY21 Kakadu had its 80,000km service at my local dealer yesterday. When I booked the service on the Toyota website, I was told that it would cost $864.40. When I collected the vehicle I was charged $902.90. I expressed surprise at the time. Looking at the invoice, the difference seems to be explained by the $35 + GST charge for Safe-T-Stop. When I was checking the vehicle in I was told that this would be performed, but I was NOT told that it was additional to the standard service and that there would be an additional charge. Has anyone else had this experience of having it performed without full disclosure? The vehicle is pretty much standard and It's not something I'd have thought was warranted at this stage.

Agreed, Prado has excellent stoppingOriginally posted by xlr8_87 View PostAre you concerned about braking?
I had to slam on the brakes the other day when someone pulled in front of me while I was going 80kmh and was absolutely astounded by how well and quickly the Prado stopped. That's with stock brakes and pads. Car is heavy too - barwork, winch, racks, tent, full rear drawers, lifted etc

No major concerns but i have noticed a slight reduction in braking force since my suspension lift, so I would like some real facts on front/rear brake bias etc. Also its bundled into cost of service so I'll give it a go.Originally posted by xlr8_87 View PostAre you concerned about braking?

I have used the Platetronic machine before but not for a Prado. It was a requirement for rego by the certifying engineer for a comprehensive brake test on a hot rod I built with a highly modified brake system. It was amazing the amount of braking data provided by just a low speed stop on the machine. It also does weight on each wheel, toe in or out for both axles and shock absorber test. So it can provide lots of usefull info and it was pretty cheap where I had it done.

Brake Test - Safe-T-Stop
Hi Folks,
For my next service I've requested a brake test called Safe-T-Stop. This is a system that helps provide performance details on the braking performance of the car, has anyone used this at a dealer or brake specialist ? I'm particularly interested how the brakes are performing from a overall perspective but also front / rear brake bias. Also does anyone know if Toyota can actually test the ABS is working via diagnosis tool etc ?
Regards
