thanks "blw", the toyota service guy said a similar cause , he also said to make sure to drive around a bit using the brakes to help dry out the brakes , and dont use the handbrake if possible when parked the night after carwash, i said to the service guy, i recons its a design fault ,no comment, i had a 120 series prado for 14years and never had this problem, i will ask a guy i know that owns a brake and clutch store , what his opinion is and if theres a fix, eg different type brake pads , cheers john

I have a 120 Prado and it does the same thing after being washed. I just take it around the block after a wash and apply the brakes gently while coasting.Originally posted by JaCaDaK View Postthanks "blw", the toyota service guy said a similar cause , he also said to make sure to drive around a bit using the brakes to help dry out the brakes , and dont use the handbrake if possible when parked the night after carwash, i said to the service guy, i recons its a design fault ,no comment, i had a 120 series prado for 14years and never had this problem, i will ask a guy i know that owns a brake and clutch store , what his opinion is and if theres a fix, eg different type brake pads , cheers john

I had the handbrake seize a couple of times on my previous 2016/17 GX Prado after getting the brakes wet on a (relatively shallow) river crossing. I ended up taking the handbrake drum apart, cleaning the pivot shafts and applying grease to everywhere appropriate. They are a bugger to reassemble though. I only had to do it on one wheel and only once.
