  • Troubles going into reverse...

    Hi All

Anyone had troubles going into reverse and getting the car to engage reverse? I started my 150 auto this morning, selected reverse from park and no go. Went back into park and did it again, still no drive... Did it again and no go. Shut down car, turned it on again, park to reverse and no go... Put handbrake on, selected reverse with oot on brake and revved car, finally it made a loud clunk and I had drive... Been perfect all day.

It's in to Toyota on Wednesday but thought I would see if anyone has experienced anything similar...

    Dan

    Hi Dan,

Its quite common for the handbrake shoes to get stuck after being very wet, usually happens after washing the car .... I've read it a few times over the past few years so seems to happen often enough. Washed your car lately?

Yep, the day before and then drove it into the garage. Fingers crossed that's it.

      Cheers for the info.

To a Pajero, this transmission and I do not agree at the best of times however the above appears to be correct.

When I wash my car I do a lap of the block, cleans out water off the brakes and motor and gets rid of the excess water before I towel dry it.

I also do and I did that this time round, love everything about our VX except for that transmission, overheating bit of crap that clunks into and through gears, it just should not do it...

Will see what Motorama have to say tomorrow. In all fairness but it drove like a Lexus limo on the way home from the airport tonight...
