Hi all, my 150 gxl prado has developed an interesting wheel bearing like vibration from what we ( Toyota and I) think is the front end. My local dealership believed it was a front right wheel bearing and have replaced it but this did not change the symptoms. In fact they think the one that went in was faulty and intend to replace it. The vehicle has 104k on it. It appeared to develop after a few things all happened at once. Firstly 90k service followed by suspension change to a bilstiens / lovells setup, not raised but HD front and standard rear with airbags.
In addition I put a steelT13 bullbar on and a winch tucked under that. No dual battery. I had all aligned etc and all seems well. The last thing was a 1000k dash to get a boat and back.
As a side note I got about a 40mm over the sagged oem suspension. Also at the 90k service it was noted that the front outer LEFT CV loint boot clamp was loose and spayed grease over the inner wheel area. This was repacked and clamped. Brake pads are all min 3 mm.
Now the symptoms. Audible vibration that steadily increases with wheel speed, whether under load or not, if I put into neutral at 100 kph there is no change.
Toyota to their credit are looking at it ( as it under extra care warranty). They have held back on the replacing the bearing again ( though it really does sound like one). I believe they intend to drop the drive shaft out of it for their next step.
I was thinking cv's slightly out of alignment but really that would be marginal. Other than that I am fresh out. Can CV joint produce these symptoms. Any advice welcome. However it really does seem to be in the front. Chhers
