Recently had a pretty serious issue with the 4wd system of my car. Drove a short distance in L4 and when changing back to H4 the transfer shift actuator failed completely. This meant the car was stuck in L4. (Completely stuck - mechanics could not manually get it back to H4 without replacing actuator).
Background info: the car has done ~130000 kms, serviced regularly and is in pretty good condition, there was no impact to the actuator that caused it to fail (driving was in desert sand).
Would be really interested to know if anyone has had the same problem??
I was at least lucky that this happened less than 10kms from home - but would hate to think what if the same thing happened to someone while they were travelling remotely.
