Does any one have any info on the 150 in terms of when coasting downhill, and braking, in some cases will drop back a gear and assist with engine braking,
but when you accelarate again, seems to take it's time going back up a gear, and stays in the lower gear for way too long, and revving harder than necessary ?

Have struck this a few times now, and am keen to know if anyone else has experienced same problem ?

    Re: 5 Speed Auto, downchanging

It does happen in the 120 series. A quick push of the throttle will usually get it up a gear. - Disappointing really.

      Re: 5 Speed Auto, downchanging

Yeh, I've tried a quick push, a long pus and an intermediate push of the throttle, she just stays in that lower gear and won't jump up a gear :x

Very Frustrating, does'nt happen that often, but just does'nt seem right ! I can obviously use the tiptronic and force it up, but thats not the point !

Just curious, how does it behave with the cruise control in these situations...?

It only does this if you brake - and when you brake Cruise is turned off. So not a problem.

It is normal the 120 does it as well, it basically is engine braking saves the brakes, the first few times it freaks you out then you just get used to it.

                Re: 5 Speed Auto, downchanging

                Thanks Hutch,

I understand the purpose of it, just does'nt seem to operate correctly in some situations after reaching the bottom of a hill, and engine has been holding back, the transmission takes an overly long time after accelleration to go back up a gear.

                  Engine/Transmission Hesitation

Ok, well my transmission issue with downchanging is still there, and is certainly not right, I have a further question someone may be able to help with.

When coming out of a corner at slower speeds, 30 - 50ks or so, and accelerating out of the corner, the drive (Read:engine & Trans) consistently has a hesitation or stutter prior pulling on again at given acceleration.

Anyone else experienced similiar ? Was this issue a characteristic of the 120 D4D also ?

                    Re: 5 Speed Auto, downchanging

I noticed the same. It definitely has a lag when you accelerate after you turn the corner.

However if you turn VSC off (by holding the TRC OFF button until it displays TRC OFF and VSC OFF on the dash) it makes a suttle difference to this lag.

                      Re: 5 Speed Auto, downchanging

I just push the gear stick into S mode (4th), then back to Drive and it does as it should.

                      Nifty...

Same with the 120 series, move the lever from D to 4 and back and it will change up straight away.

                          V6 Auto Issues

                          Hi All
Im close to letting my 90 series go and am looking at a auto v6. After having read a review, and looked on the forum i have seen that some of you have had trasmission overheating issues, but unless i am mistaken they all seem to be diesels. Has anyone had this happen to a petrol. I would assume that the gearbox is very similar?

                              Re: V6 Auto Issues

                              Hi

I've been towing a trailer loaded to about 1500kgs in both traffic and highway with no problems. Also went to the Springs 4WD park on the weekend and tackled some of the "difficult" tracks in low range with no issues either. In my experience if you are going have problems it will show on heavy sand but haven't had a chance at that yet.

                              Regards, Richo.
