In any event I haven't had a vehicle with traction control before and wondered if I fit and air locker will it affect the traction control. Should I turn the traction control off when locker is activated? If anyone could let me know that would be great.

The locker will not have any effect on the traction control. The TC is engage through braking of individual wheels and removal of power output from the motor. All the locker will do is prevent the TC from engaging as much due to the lack of a free spinning wheel.

      Re: ARB Air lockers

Just found out something about mounting the compressor under the seat. I spoke to the ARB sales guy at ARB Central in Perth as I wanted to get my Compressor installed under the drivers seat but as he then informed me, you wouldnt be able to as side airbags sensors are there as well as the seat airbags would be affected. Which also then made me think you wont be able to mount gauges on on the 'A' pillar as im pretty sure airbag comes out from there as well.( Im getting the autron dual battery gauge 52mm cup mount.)

Was disappointed to hear this was keen to put it there as there not much room in the bonnet for extras.

        Re: ARB Air lockers

Hi cruisercruising, I got my ARB air compressor fitted under the passenger seat (GXL 150) last week, there was heaps of room and there did not seem to be any sensors or electricals in the way that might have been an issue.

Best of all it's really not too noisy when it's running and it is definitely a way more convenient spot than having it under the bonnet.

I went the lazy option and got the workshop to fit it

If you do plan to get one fitted one thing you may find helpful is where they fitted the on/off switch... i had wanted it in the switch pannel beside the steering wheel but the guys found that there was not enough space so we ended up settling on this location as it fits easily and if i do go the front and rear locker option in the future the second button can go next to it.

                Re: ARB Air lockers

This looks neat. About to get a 150 am taking the CKMA12 out of the 120. I had it mounted in the engine bay on rubber grommets, but this looks a LOT neater and easier.

What have you got it mounted on? Did you drill straight through the floor and bolt underneath or use the existing brackets for the seats and create a mounting block?

Any pics would be greatly appreciated but it looks REALLY nice like that.

                  Re: ARB Air lockers

Personally I would not mount the compressor under the seats inside the car.

Esspecially if you are actually going to use it - and even more so if you're going to fit air lockers as the heading to the thread sugests.

Reason number 1 - if you are going to fit lockers then you will need to run two air lines to the diffs and sending these from the engine bay rather than inside the car is way more practical and logical.
Reason number 2 - If you had ever had one of these in the past and pumped up 4 tyres you'd know that they get extremely hot, to hot to touch, so hot that spit will fiz intantly on contact.

So theres my two cents worth - IMHO if you are going to get one of these and I highly recomend them, fit it in the engine bay - afterall the Prado has a gas stutted bonnet so its hardly an effort having to use it...

                      Reason 4:

The smell of diff oil in your car is annoying. If you do fit inside run the blowoff valves outside

Reason 5 - If oil sucks back up the line it comes out the top of the solenoid...as I've just found out, despite having breathers.

It means that the pneumtic seals have gone, the locker won't work. I'm off to see them today to hit them up for warranty.

Sounds like the same issue that Nika had just before Christmas. I believe when he had ARB fix this he alos had them re-do the axel seals.

My issue certainly doesn't stop the lockers from working, Nika's caused his compressor to keep pumping which is how he noticed it (if i remember correctly) other than smalll amounts of oil coming back up the line everything else seems fine. Just been Slack as our local ARB mechanic is 50ks away and a bit of a PITA to get to. Must make a point of getting over and having them checked out.
