150 rear diff lock

Just be aware of the limitations of the factory electronic rear locker on the 2018 GXL. First it only works in low range. Second, the manual advises not to go over 8kph with it engaged (though we'll probably ignore that). Third, it's mighty hard to engage. You have to edge forward wiggling the steering wheel before it will engage - not much use if you are already stuck. The chief tech at my dealer says the engagement problem is common to them all - he often has queries from new owners and has to take them to a patch of dirt to show them how to engage it.

Just don't think that you'll get the same functionality as an air locker.

Glad I found this thread. I had trouble engaging it last week even in mud! I was about to take it back to the dealer to have it looked at. I will have to have a play on a dirt road and see how I go!

I have a mid year 2019 Prado. Does anyone know if the rear diff lock engagement issue happens with 2019 models?
The only time that I have engaged the diff locks so far was a few months ago, when we tried to snatch/tow an Amarok and his boat through some soft sand.
We became bogged as well, but easily released once we disconnected from the Amarok.
My old Series 90 didn't have a rear diff lock while the only other vehicle that I have driven with a rear diff lock was an old Pajero and it worked.

I don't know whether my rear diff was locked or not. I just assumed it was locked and didn't bother to do any checking.

It is interesting indeed.
I always thought only kakadu comes with, But looking at the Prado 2020 spec. From GXL(Auto) and above got rear diff lock.

Also, may be out of topic - was looking at LC200 and none of the got rear diff lock even their sahara badge...
