    Had my doubts about an auto 4WD, but after speaking with my bro & seeing his auto Prado on the beach at Inskip Point I was convinced am am now on my 2nd auto Prado & would never go to manual. With an auto you get a lot more time to enjoy the scenery with out all of the work (lots of gear changes on softish sand).

      Auto all the way, better for towing & 4 wheeling, (besides wife cant drive manual)
      03 Grande, V6 AUTO.Red Metallic, Sovereign bar,Narva driving lights, GME uhf.
      Brtidgestone D697 ltrs,(got more than 75000 kls out of D694's) Black Widow Rear drawers & Cargo barrier,with shelf & divider..Elec Brake controller,now tow a 24ft "Spaceland" 2012 caravan.

        I went Manual as well. Peak hour in Darwin just means an extra 15 - 20 mins or another beer after work!

            auto's eat manuals in the serious stuff . as much as i dislike saying that .
            03 grande v6 , with added stuff that makes it go places . RTFM people !

              Have to say, behind a 3.0L diesel auto works best. With the Prado auto box it is a dream in the High country when engine braking is what you want.
              Blue Storm 150 D4D GXL, Toyota Tow Bar, Cheepo floor mats, Tough Dog Springs & Shocks, Colour Coded TJM T13 steel bar, KingOne winch with rope, GME 3440 80 channel uhf. Not allowed to make hole for snorkel - yet..
