Morning Everyone,
I have been on here for quite some time now however dont get much chance to post anything however this one i think is important. I recently (Monday) took our T/D Manual 150 prado down to the local toyota dealer for its 6 month/20,000k service. The car is only 12 months old and only done 17,000ks so didn't need much. Went to get the car that afternoon and drove it home. Went to drive it in the driveway to find that reverse could not be located. Tried all the other gears, switched it off and on again and still no reverse. We have not had a problem with any gears since owning the car. Took it back to the service the next day and advised them of the problem. Later that d i received a phone call from them and it is not good news. They have had to rip out all the centre console to check the gear selector and found nothing. The better news is that they now have to rip out the gear box to find out what the problem is. Long story short is that the whole gear box may have to be replaced. And the even better news is that we are now without a 4WD for up to possibly 8 weeks. My message to everyone is......well i don't know what the message is but maybe get your service guys to check next time you are there. I would hate for anybody else to have this problem also. Anyway for all those travelling over the christmas break, i'm jealous but enjoy and travel safe.
