Problem with 2011 GXL Radio

Picked up my Feb 2011 built GXL Prado Diesel Manual a week ago.
Whilst listening to FM radio, I noticed a high frequency interference through the speakers. Even when pressing the Mute button, this can be clearly observed. Happens with engine running or idle and only in FM mode.
AM, Aux and CD source are fine. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Wondered if it is a faulty radio unit or even batch.

Apparently, this unit (P2867) is a Panasonic head unit (not Fujitsu Ten as I thought).
Dealership acknowledged the problem and ordered a replacement.

Sometimes, this is attributed to alternator whine. It happens when you have devices plugged into the radio or running an ipod through an FM transmitter. Does the high pitch sound vary with the accelerator pedal? It could be that the stereo has not been grounded properly.

amts, thanks for your reply. It happens also with the engine turned off with ignition in ACC position. I have no other electrical accessories fitted, so pretty sure it is the actual unit. Dealer said they have a replacement in about a week, so let's see what happens.

Sounds like a faulty unit then.
