    ***REDARC TOW-PRO RECALL***

For those of you that have a Redarc Tow-Pro unit fitted to your vehicle, AND tow a caravan or other trailer fitted with AL-KO Electronic Stability Control (ESC), check the manufacturing date of your Tow-Pro unit.

If the unit is manufactured before August, 2014, the unit has been recalled and will be replaced. Either check the unit box, or the unit itself.

There will be a code with letters and numbers. EBRH-ACC followed by numbers 1408xxxx.

The '14' is the year of manufacture and the '08' is the month of manufacture. If the month of manufacture is '07' or less, go to the Redarc website, send an email with your contact details with a short message, and someone from Redarc will contact you to discuss details. Redarc will give you a new unit, but will need the old unit returned. No charge.

Something to do with the possible incompatability between the Tow-Pro unit and the AL-KO ESC sending an electrical signal to brake when not necessary.

Had mine swapped over, towed with the old unit for some months before I found out about the recall, though no problems at all.

Do you have any more info about a recall? I couldn't find anything.

Ricky Esser seems to have spammed quite a few places with his message. He seems to have gone to a fair bit of trouble - I wonder what he is getting out of it?

I'm not sure I'd class that as a recall though... they don't use the word "recall" at all and I got the idea that if you bought an older unit it was just bad luck (not send it back and we'll fix it).

Anyway, the issue doesn't affect us because we don't have an A- ko ESC system in our camper.

Pics of my setup probably won't help if you have all the spots taken as you say, perhaps it may be better if you post a couple of pics of your dash area, left side right side perhaps, and then some folk may be able to comment or offer suggestions....as I am sure you know, you do need to be able to reach it easily without overstretching whilst driving...
I shifted my UHF handpiece to make room, but I see in your ig build up you already have your UHF handpiece located just to the right of the fron/centre console, presumably because your radio is monted just in front of where you left knee cap is when driving...but its not clear in the photo, so mabe a few more pics of your layout MLC??

Yeh, thats why I said I found "more info not "the" info .... like peter mcc says, it doens't give any info about a recall at that location, but explains the issue ...I guess

..and it takes me back to my recent rambling, (and yeh, I know, excessively long post)....not all brake controllers are compatable with all brake systems...

Soooo.... if redarc (or their distributer) had fitted one of their older TOWPRO controllers knowing it was going to be used for an ALCO ESC equipped trailer I would be very surprised if they wouldn't replace it with a newer compatable unit....but who knows if you bought it and fitted it yourself. I am in Brisbane, and like I said, I used the gents (and they are indeed true gentlman) at Wynnum towbars, and they did a superb job with my install, and we all confirmed that the Techonsha P3 was compatable with the Hydrastar trailer brake system (and any current brake system I personally might use in the near future).

I mounted the main unit in the rear left quarter and bought a longer CAT5 cable to extend to the dash for the dial.

Only found out about the RECALL on a caravan website, Caravaners Forum. When I told the installer of the recall, TJM at Carlton, NSW, the reply was along the lines of, "What the f*** are you talking about, we have not heard anything." Appears as though it is not widely known.

As brogers posted, in his last document download, no word mentioned as a "recall", only a NOT APPROVED for use with AL-KO ESC.

Nice, but those spots were gone. Had a "new spot" selected. Did a great job too. I will post a pic tonight.
