Prado 150 GXL Kenwood DNX7380BTNAV stereo install

Hi There,

Are about to pick up my new Kenwood Stereo this week and was wondering if anyone has put one of these in a GXL yet? In particular, I was wondering how to go about connecting the existing Toyota reverse camera to the head unit. Is this possible? Does it need discrete power or power from the head unit? How much voltage does it require?

Advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks

I put an Alpine unit in my Prado, but essentially the process is the same. Yes, you will need to power the factory camera with a 5 volt feed. The video feed is simple composite video - signal and ground. The Alpine INAW900 allowed me to draw the 5 volt feed directly from the head unit (via it's direct camera plug).

Not sure about that particular unit, but it's not a common feature on the back of a double DIN unit to have an extra 5 volt feed. Most only have the RCA input for the camera input.

The Alpine unit has its own direct connection plug for their own camera that also has 5 volt pins, but it can be adapted (read modified) to suit the factory camera.

Just installed the Kenwood Unit over the weekend and try as we may, could not get the factory reverse camera to work with the aftermarket head unit. Has anyone been able to do this?
