How do most run their 12V fridge in their vehicle?

Hi guys

Assuming that I have a dual battery set-up, is it safe to plug my Bushman Fridge straight into the 12V socket in the boot while the car is running? Or does the wiring need to be upgraded?

I kind of figured that would be the case, I thought it may of been a different story considering that it also has an inverter with 240v socket.

Spend some time reading the threads in the electrical section, you will learn so much more than just wiring up your fridge. Loads of info already posted so sit back grab a cuppa and read away!

I ran 6mm cable from the secodary battery via a fuse. In my next build I will run a 16mm cable to the back of the car and run all my gear (VHF/UHF/HF radios and fridge). I also ran another 16mm via anderson plugs to the trailer for the trailer battery.

I would not recommend using any cable smaller than 6mm for a fridge as your voltage at the fridge (when running) will be low.
