If the 150 is the same as the 120 the blue wire was coiled up next to the relay unit in the jack space. That is how I found it with a mate's other brand too. What is the current flow on these things? 5mm2 is pretty heavy duty. I did notice that when I did some wiring on same mate's camper that there was no earth run in the trailer light plug and it relied on the earth supplied through the Anderson plug. Explained why he had random light problems with the trailer until we wired in an Anderson plug! Ultimately I ran both and commoned all the earth leads on the camper chassis. The camper had 4mm2 wire to the brakes but the +ve wire was pared down severely to fit into the trailer connector. Maybe 5mm2 is overkill?

OK just googled it and answered my question myself, 3A maximum per magnet.

      Thanks for the reply.

Yeah 5mm is overkill, but I bought it for some other stuff too. Andersons and kids outlets for media etc etc.
My main concern was not having an understanding of the lumen ecu and buggering it up or something by removing the neutral and using my own.
I was going to run the neutral direct with the positive from the battery through the brake controller to the trailer socket.

      Cheers

I have been doing a bit more research... According to the US Tekonsha site they sell a wiring harness for the P3 that plugs straight into the OEM Toyota harness (4 runner, Lexus (Prado) and FJ Cruiser all use the same harness). Anyone heard of or used that?

Also the Redarc I believe is a manual set and use type timer controller yet the colour and brightness of the LED varies with braking effort. Apparently. Anyone comment on that? This is a bit sad because I installed one a month ago but didn't check. But that may have been because I didn't read the brochure?

I also note that a couple of the name brand cable makers list the standard 7 core trailer cable as capable of 15A. Not sure over what length.

7 core 4mm (1.85mm2) wire is cabable of 28 amp if only one wire has a load, 14 amp per wire if all 7 wires have a load. Due to heat build up etc.

The redarc remote head I had in my last unit did illuminate the red led more brightly in line with braking effort.

NB on the Redarc remote head unit, apparently version "2" is in the pipeline & may land mid year. As I dont drastically need the trailer brakes in my new 150 at this point I am currently holding off buying one of the current model redarc remote head units, in case the new version does something about the lack of a time delay function,(it was hinted to me it will) which is currently the major problem with these units

I asked Redarc today about whether the LED brightness is linked to braking effort via an accelerometer and was told it doesn't, just lights based on the setting on the dial. I don't need one yet either so waiting is easy.

I think Redarc list a maximum voltage drop too so depending on the length of cable run it would be ok.

I fitter my P3 to the 150 on the weekend.
It went quite well and I'm very pleased with the results.

Impressive. Good job. Lot neater than mine in the cupholder
White 2012 GXL 150 TD Auto. Work in progress. Aiming to spend less than when I kitted out the 120!

Just had a P3 installed today, It sits in front of my left knee and to be honest unless I have a head on with a kenworth there's no way my knee or any part of my leg can touch it even when I try & i'm 6ft. Can't comment on it's performance yet but i'll test it out next week on a fishing trip to 1770. Everyone seems to say they are good so i'm sure we wont have any probs.

                  Cheers
