  • Info on Fyrlyte Spotlights (using Halogen Bulbs)

    Hey fellas,

I've found these mentioned on another forum and thought I'd post them here to see if anyone has had any experience with this new brand of Aussie Made (in SA) Spotlights? They look the goods and use Halogen bulbs instead of HID and they claim the light output is better than HIDs..... Can't find any listed price ATM.....

Could anyone tell me if they have used or heard anything about fyrlyte driving lights and how they compare to other lights?

They are about $300 per light from TJM. They are selling lots of them according to my source at TJM.

I have been looking at them for quite a while and there is someone on this forum who was getting a set some time ago.

I think that these will be my next spotlights.

It appears that u can easily change them between Spots or Spreads.... this is a great option..... Not sure how much of a spread though?

            Hi,
I have had a pair for over 12 months, they are great heaps of light 5000lumens and over a wide angle and distance.

you can change from wide angle to spot by turning the alloy back around ( highlighted by the dot/oval).
now the globes are 12volt and just as bright.

            regards

I Bought a a pair in Dec 2012 and while the Lumens are great for driving and they melt bitumen at 1km they get HOT but not to fear I didnt realise that they were water cooled :-( the front seal on the lens cover is crap. I get water in the light from driving in rain not from crossing creeks

has anyone had a similar issue and what are possible remedies??

                Hi mrtad,

I am sorry too read about the water ingress .
I have been looking at the Fyrlyte's as replacements for my lights when their time is up.

Have you contacted Fyrlyte on this issue at all?
I would be interested too hear what they say about it as I haven't heard or read anything about them letting water in until your post.

                Cheers

Hi Guys : Fyrlyt has had some issues in the past with water ingress due to faulty seals and the occasional housing molding. These issues have been addressed and because of the randomness of the failure, all lights are now vacuum tested on the production line for any leaks.
Any warranties of water ingress have been replacement lights to the customer with no questions asked as we know know it was a production fault. They just have to let the dealer know or ring FYRLYT.

Thanks for your reply. It is great to see companies back their product.

Hi Rev. If you do end up with FYRLYts then just make sure they are wired as recommended to get the design voltage of 13 volts at the lights and I am sure you will be impressed with the outcome.
                      Cheers

Good clear write up, thanks 1JFJ. I bought a set of Fyrlyts 6 months ago and never looked back. Best spotties ever I reckon.

                            You are most welcome Spike69,
I brought a set of the Nemisis 9000 two weeks ago and am getting them wired in on Monday.
Really looking forward to seeing how good they really are, I am sure nothing short of suitably impressed.

                              Hey,

What is the lifetime of the Fyrlyte bulbs like?

It was frustrating changing out dead Narva Plus bulbs every 6 months on the town car, so I went to HID, and haven't had an issue.

Has anyone had to change bulbs, any comments on how long you've had, and how often you run the Fyrlytes?

                              Best
