  • Aftermarket Stereo - trip meter, fuel info etc

Hi guys, new to forum and soon to be new Prado owner! I looked for info on this and couldn't find it, and didn't want to hijack another stereo thread so here I am.

I'm looking at a 150 Prado in the next month, and one of the first things I'm doing is putting an Alpine DVD touchscreen in in the top spot where the reversing camera is. The only question I've got is, by doing this I'm obviously losing all the fuel consumption etc info from that screen. Has anyone worked a way around this, or can advise on a reliable head unit I can use instead of the Alpine unit? The alpine unit will be either the iva w502e or ina w900 (something like that, I have credit to use at the car stereo place and haven't decided yet).

    Cheers for any advise!

I can't help you with a compatible stereo but I wouldn't worry too much if you can't find one, all that info is doubled up on the dash. I've had the 150 for nearly 2 years now and apart from the reverse camera, the only use for the screen has been so the wife can see the outside temp.

Oh, so the fuel info is on the dash as well? The old man has a diesel 150 GXL as well and he told me it wasnt. Wouldn't suprise me if he wasn't aware of it haha

Glad u like Reggie, although the petrol costs more to run, in the long run it is about reliability and of course the V6 is a great drive.

Coming from a 6.0 VZ Commodore Ute I think I might actually save money on fuel with the petrol Prado. The old mans got the diesel which i think is a bit slow, and I've had bad experiences with the old 2.8 hilux's (never use bio diesel fuel but dont get me started on that!) so I'm going with petrol this time.

But remember one tank of diesel gets you 1200km's city driving...
