  • tx3440 wiring

I have just purchased a tx3440 for an insane price, I am a bit handy with automotive things, I wanted to check something out with everyone to see if i'm on the right track with what i'm thinking. *absolutely overselling* LOL.

What I have figured is, most power source sockets are rated to at a minimum of 20 amps, conventional uhfs (like the tx3440) are rated no more than 5 amps. I figure, I connect 2x scotchlok connectors to both active circuits at the power source and one at the ground, and I wont have a problem with exceeding rated amps. True?

Could someone confirm or refute that?

    thanks.

Yeah join it into the power socket at the rear of the console. Easy to access and then just tuck the wire up under and towards the uhf mounting point.

Throw those scotchloks in the nearest bin though. They are the stupidest invention ever. Solder the wires in and you will never have any problems.

if you connect the 2 actives you are putting it in parallel which means you need 2 neutrals aswell
but as you have 2 fuses this defeats the parallel concept so you need to get rid of the 2 fuses and replace it with one

you generally use running cables in parallel for long distances were you need high current

I might have missed something... But I was unaware that an accessory socket even had two actives?

what I mean by two actives is the B+ AND ACC which from what i understand is the same wire.

No, don't parallel B+ and ACC wires. You'll end up permanently powering ALL of your devices that would normally run on accessory feed, not just the UHF.

As suggested earlier, throw away the scotchlok's they are crap and won't last.
