  • Diagnostics scan tool

Just want to know if anyone is using a diagnostics scan tool when working on their can and if its a good idea to get one? I want to be able to do more work on my car and think this may be a very useful tool. Any info and advise is welcome.
    Thanks,
    Bell

Scan Gauge is a very popular brand. Well priced and relatively easy to use and you can view and clear error codes.

    have a look at...

    and

    http://scangauge.com.au/

Just a word of advise... try and do a forum search before creating a new thread. You can use the the search bar in the top right of the PradoPoint page or also have a look at this link for more advanced searching

I just ordered a Toyota Intelligent Tester which will do a lot more then the Scan Gauge for the home handy man.

The main reason I wanted this unit, was to test my injectors and not rely on Toyota.

Your requirements maybe different so try this link and check it out for yourself. http://www.uobd2.com/wholesale/toyot...zuki-2130.html

          Jeez Pinko,
Lucky you don't have your location listed as you would have no end of new best mates popping by to see the tester in action! Curious to see how it all works out. Make sure you post how you get on please.

I already have a small line of friends waiting to supply liquid currency. But before a cash in I first need to learn how to operate it. To that end I believe there are others lurking about on this forum that have one, so if I run into trouble I'm hoping they will assist.

In future I will look at starting a new thread aimed at sharing and developing our combined knowledge.

Anyone using an OBD ii scanner for iPhone? Suggestions?

Something like this ( http://www.automatic.com/ ) would be nice if it could read the Prado data.

P.s. just noticed this thread running in the general section :-) http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...43-iPhone-OBD2

                    No worries Roo
If I can fix a dam iPhone I should be able to replace the switch or battery. I don't use mine for comercal work so with luck I'll get some service out of it before the need arises.

                      Pinko,
How have you found this unit so far (being a copy by the looks)?
                      Is the battery life good?
                      Is the build quality Good?
Have you had any issues with the unit and or the supplier?

For others I have found this site who claim it is original (do they mean genuine?) http://www.dhgate.com/product/100-or...163949394.html
Just waiting on a photo of the back of this unit and how long they take to reply.

                      Winston.

Looking back on it, three months in the commercial world, and having to rely on other people to enter the compensation codes and do diagnostics for me was a pain in the backside.

                            Hi Winston

I don't use mine too often, in total its been used about 5 times, and realistically I'll only use it about 3-5 times a year. Hence I'm comfortable with my purchase.

To date I have never charged it, the company processed my order promptly and since receiving it I have not needed to use their services. Lastly the quality is what you'd expect for a copy - no one would know unless your in the business.

Overall I'm happy, all I wanted was to be able to check my injector feed back and input compensation codes when the need arises.

                            Happy hunting

They are the same mob that I bought my IT2 from - careucar.com. The address and phone contacts are the same. My missus just posted my IT2 back to them to fix as the screen does not respond. I had to remove the internal battery as Australia Post won't ship items with batteries installed. Their tech support seem genuine so hopefully they can repair my machine. I'd only used it twice. According to Denso Australia my machine can't be genuine because I only paid @ $350 for it.
