I have just installed 35 watt HIDs in my driving lights and 75 watts in my IPFs. 100 watts will be mighty bright. The seller is charging quality ballast prices so check where they are from. If they are not quality (German or USA) then give them a miss. My kits cost me around 170 ea and are NOT Chinese made. Maybe compare to those on the New Pro Tech website to get an idea.

      Hi Kym,

I have the 55 watt high beam kit from him. Only had the kit fitted for a few days, easy to fit and makes a noticeable difference when driving. The only issue I had was one of the plugs needed to joined the opposite way for the lights to work.

Better quality around for that price, plenty of "100watt" kits turns out to be much less and I'd agree with MLC, NewPro Tech are definitely worth a look. I'm stoked with my set in my IPF's

gday all, i thankyou for your input.....will check out newpro tech as well. cheers dave, so the wires need to be crossed for them to work??
i thought this would be a better option compared to spotties, especially as i dont have alot of room on bullbar for spotties and wanna leave some room for air to get to radiator??

            Hi Kym,

When I unpacked and assembled each globe, checking each connector locked correctly and wire colours matched, I tested them (as per instructions) with a direct connection off the battery and they worked. When I then connected them into the wiring loom, they wouldn't fire.

From a comment I had read somewhere about the lights on the 150 being positive earth (don't flame if that's wrong), I reversed one of the connectors with a red and black wire so the lock was on opposite sides (effectively the red wire then connected to the black wire), the lights then fired and worked.

Do Philips still make the HID kits? Or are they all Chinese knock offs now?

well i went ahead with this deal.....couldnt find much better for price, received the other day, and they seem ok quality, yes chinese ballast, but what isnt made in china and then relabelled anyway these days. the only downside it looks like having to remove both my batteries, to get lights in, but also being a wiring dummy im unsure which wire to connect to the high beams......just way too many wires under this bonnet
any help (photos would be great) is muchly appreciated..............

I've just purchased a set of these for my high beams only :

                  http://www.offroadindustries.com.au/search?q=Prado+150

They're an all in one unit. ie the ballast is attached the the rear of the bulbs plug and the wiring plugs straight into the wiring harness. For about $30 more i figured the ease of installation should be worth it (hopefully!?). Will see how they go and post up here.

Anyone used them / similar before?

the wattage in the kit you linked seems to be the same for low/high beam. Would there be any real advantage to having the same watts for the highbeam other than 2 extra lights on?

I've just purchased the high beam kit, so as to leave the low beam as the original equipment and keep the low beams legal (and not too annoying to other drivers if their left aiming too high). So in my case there will be the increase in brightness with high beam on.

I guess if you fitted both the low and the high kits, the advantage would be the larger projection when the high beams are on, though no significant difference in brightness (unless the bulb type effects that).

I just installed the all in one HID setup on the Prado. They fit right in nicely, but the bulb must be screwed in first, then the ballast attached/secured in place. The wiring harness fitted right into the Prado harness, however the plug had to be flipped over (as per the instructions), due to the negative switching.

They are nice and bright! :-)

Dont forget to look at this guide i did a number of years ago on how to install HID's on a 150. Also i wouldnt waste your money on using anything LESS than 50w in your low beam, 35w - especially in the wet, is next to useless. Personally I run 50W Low, 75W High in my 150 and would never look back!

Any chance you can post a picture of the ballasts installed, I like the idea of having them fixed to the back of the light as space and mounting options are at a premium in my engine bay!
