  • Dual battery questions

Hi all ill start by saying sorry for asking questions that have prob being asked a hundred time, but i cant seem to find the answers, please don't shoot me down

I have been looking around for a fair while been quite and just reading all the topics great site

    Ok
    Ryan
1, I have a 2013 GLX I'm getting my things together for my set up of the dual battery so far I have all cables fuses, CB battery terminals Red arc SBI12 ando plug fuse box etc....

What I don't have is a battery,a place to mount the redarc and any idea on where to start on pulling out the panels to run twin B&S to the ando plug,
Are people running the twin through the cab all under the car?
I also need to run a wire to the back for a brake control

    I have a piranha battery tray so I need a 12" 100 A/H battery?

And what are people that don't run the BCDC doing help with the charge?

Again sorry if this has been asked a number of times

    Cheers Jonesy.

You can run it through the grommet on the firewall or through the chassis rails. It then pops up near the jack area.

Jonesy have a look through the builds (not mine though) as most are running an isolator.

Works ok for me. Best search is to put Pradopoint+Redarc into google. There is a new sticky in the build section with links to members builds.

            Is yours a D4D or V6?

Fit the Redarc as close to the main battery as possible. I use (though not on the Prado where i am using a DC DC system in the back) a manual cct breaker to give protection and effectively have a switch to isolate the system.

You need to go into your settings and change the default thread age cutoff, for some reason the default is one month, change it from the beginning and should be good.

              Cheers Andrew

No worries, just checked and go to settings, then general setting, about half way down the page is the thread options. Make sure you go to the bottom of the page and save changes.

                  Cheers Andrew

Now you have that sorted, if you click on views or replies in the header of each sub forum it will list threads by the title you click on, this generally brings up the most popular threads first which usually covers most of the big issues.

                      Cheers Andrew

Didn't want to start yet another dual battery thread but have a quick question. In my 150, the battery on the passenger side (factory location) has a 12'' RACV battery sitting on a plastic tray with the clamp over it. Is this as per factory or am i missing anything for the battery to go on? It has the footing there the same as the drivers side. The reason I ask is, if that is how it came standard, why would I need to go out and spend something like $200 for a bit of tin to fit a second battery to the drivers side when I can just make a bracket to move the aircon pipe over and chuck a clamp over the battery using the holes that are already there to fit the clamp?

                        Cheers Brad.

Double post.... But while I'm here, I'm trying to justify the price they are asking for these battery trays ;-)

                          Cheers Brad.

                            Brad,

I used a battery tray and holder from Super***** and cost under $50. The tray has to be slightly modified to fit and a nutsert used for bolting down. The tray accommodates a M50 battery without touching or moving air con pipe. It has been in the vehicle for over 15000km and no problems.Click image for larger version

                              Hi Jonesy,
I found threaded holes which lined up pretty nicely on the drivers side, ended up working quite well. and i just did a trip out to Karijini, and it was highly corrugated roads there and back, checked everything when i got home and it was all still rock solid
