  • Altitude satnav screen brightness

    Hello all,

I have a question regarding the lighting on the satnav screen on my altitude. My mates kakadu screen dims at night when his headlights are on however my screen stays bright.
I have gone through the setup....general......auto screen change ( which I assume dulls the brightness at night) and this is set to on but the screen is still bright at night.
Is there something I am missing or is mine just faulty.
    Any response would be helpful.

    Cheers
    Johno

    Johno,

On the right of the steering wheel, there is a little round knob, just below the dashboard. This allows you to have the screen bright, or adjust this to dim your screen when the lights are on.
Enjoy you Altitude, they are a great vehicle.

      Johno,

Not sure if the Kakadu is different, but are you talking about it staying bright, or staying in 'day mode' (i.e. colours are not inverted for night vision)? These are two different things on mine. When the headlights are on (and it's dark) the nav screen automatically dims, though the brightness is controlled by on screen controls (+ and -) after pressing 'display'. The screen brightness is generally independent of the knob on the dash that Dave refers to (which controls the instrument illumination brightness) unless that knob is turned all the way up until it clicks, which then forces the nav screen into 'day mode'. There is also a 'day mode' on screen control which allows one to force day mode on the nav screen at night without turning the instrument panel to full brightness.

      David.

        Thanks Dave and David,

The screen brightness knob was turned on and the screen wasn't changing to night mode (simple when you know).

Thanks guys, and yes Dave, they are a great vehicle.

        Cheers

Yeah Dave is correct, RHS of steering wheel is the adjuster for the dash lights. At full turn it will be on all the time so you can see display during daylight. Or back it off at night. Cheers Tony
