Extra wire behind 4WD selector panel

I had to remove the 4WD selector panel today to do some work under the console. When I was unplugging all the wiring from the panel I noticed there is a bundle of wires with a gray connector on the end not plugged into any socket. I was careful and noted where all the other wires were connected on a diagram just to make sure I didn't miss anything when putting everything back together.

I have a petrol auto Kakadu, the panel has 4 connectors on it but there were 5 small bunches of wire coming off the loom. Any ideas what it is for?

I would guess for a downhill assist control button which would have been made obsolete by crawl control.

That makes sense. I couldn't find any reference to it in the workshop manual.

It activates the flux capacitor... Obviously not installed. Sheesh! I guess you bought the el cheapo Prado. lol

There are lots of unused connectors all over the place on all models, often I suspect they are for options on overseas models that we don't get.

Mine has a connector behind there for the dual voltage meter. But I put it there!

Could be the for the top secret ultra performance / economy device that lets the car run on regular water and do a 6 second quarter mile. If you were a high order member of the Illuminati then it would been connected up at the factory for you. You would also have the subtle mark on the back that means you never get pulled over for a ticket and a transmitter that means all lights turn green as you approach.
