  • Feed for dual battery monitor at the center console

    Hello everyone, this is my first post and you'll excuse me if I don't know the ropes as yet.
    I am fairly mechanically minded and have done a lot on my previous motor vehicles over the years but with technologies used today one can be fairly easily lost.
    Anyway, having installed a second battery system on my new Prado, I have also started to install a dual battery monitor but I don't know an easy way to find a connecting point for it.
    Derek has told me that on his Prado he picked up the connection from the cigarette lighter.
    For me to do that I have to dismantle the whole centre console to access the cig lighter has there is none on the main front dash.
    Any advice is welcome.

    Which 150 do you have? I patched into the power socket but I had already removed the centre trim because I put my monitor where the Kakabox has the all terrain control thing.

      Hello, thanks for your reply. I have the Altitude Prado. Yes I was told to pick up the power from the cig lighter which is positioned just below the centre console.
      I thought that somehow it could be easier to pick up power from within the engine bay or perhaps under the dash. My problem is that I am no longer very flexible....(lol)...that's what happens when we get younger..Ha..Ha.. The cabling coming with the monitor is plenty long enough but I'd have to separate it to get the power feed lead to come back to cig lighter if I wan t to hook it up on the cig lighter. Thanks

        Following the above post. I have installed the monitor right next to the all terrain control knob is and drilled through to feed the leads and into the engine bay it is only to pick up the power to feed the monitor that I am searching for. The manufacturer suggest to take the power from the ignition switch and so far the testing I made there could not giving the proper result... so don't know what I am doing wrong...

          Not sure why you cannot find power up under there. Like I said it was easy to grab the power socket when the console was apart. Most of the power will only be on with the ignition at accessory or on.

            I just had one of those installed and mounted next to the steering wheel on a custom bracket the shop fabbed up. I'm not sure where they pinched the power feed from but will try and find out. The dash isn't that hard to pull apart if you need to, have done it myself several times.

              I tapped into the passenger seatbelt warning light, works fine.
