Just wondering what headlight globes people are running?

I want to replace mine with something that is a little more visually appealing considering the headlights are on all the time on the new GXL. Am considering the osram night breakers or Phillips xtreme vision.

    Thoughts? Opinions?

I don't want to go HID for legality reasons

Do you mind me asking what the standard GXL halogen lights are like in the facelift 150? Adequate?

I do 50,000km plus a year, it's mostly at night and on country roads. Good head lights are a must for my next car. Mine were OK, but not that great for my 2012 GXL with halogens, I put a Xray Vision HID kit in and it improved it greatly.. but since the facelift Prado doesn't have projector style lights in the GX or GXL the HID's aren't really an option, so I'm leaning towards other models now.

I just tested mine over 800kms through early morning dark, fog and DARK roads. I'd have to say they are quite good. I would rate the best factory headlights I have ever used where those fitted to my old BA XR6 Turbo back in 2004, they were mega bright and had long range both low and high beam.

My last car was a GU Patrol with IPF Spots, 130w each, that thing lit up the road like day time for 300m.

The MY14 Prado is not as bright as that of course, but with the low beam angle adjustable I just angle it right up high, and the high beams are bright and through the light a good 100m clear of the car.

I used the fog lights and low beam at 4am running though about 50km of cane fields and I could see "under" the fig but not very far , less than 30m.

Overall I was planning on adding an ECB nudge bar and ARB LED spots but I don't think I'll bother now.

Hi Andy. Essentially any of those bulbs will be fine. Don't go too white otherwise your brightness will suffer and don't be tempted by the really cheap ones. Spend the ponies on a good quality brand... Narva, Philips and Osram spring to mind. Essentially, anything that's quality.

Yeah, that's where I'm at, quality is what I'm chasing. The factory headlights are actually quite good, I just don't like how yellow they are. We used to have a corolla levin zr which had the factory hid, these were brilliant. The only reason I'm after different globes is the look I guess, I saw the missus the other day driving towards me and the headlights looked crappy and yellow, not like those of a modern $60k car.
