  • Toyota OEM GPS unit wiring

    Hey guys,

I realize this has probably been covered a few times but I can't seem to be able to access the GPS section? It is only showing me the 1 thread?

So I've got a genuine Toyota GPS unit (model # PZQ60-00200) in my 06 SR5 Hilux and am having issues with the guidance. If I put a destination in and start guidance and I choose not to follow that route at a certain point, the unit doesn't automatically re-route it. It will continue on it's initial route. I can still use it but have to pull over and reset the guidance. All the voice guidance I ever receive is the "please proceed to highlighted route blah blah blah" and then the final message of "you have arrived at your destination". The guidance never tells me that a turn is coming up or anything!

Have read this thread which I stumbled across on google but I don't understand what it means by "Checked and found wiring to ECU poor connection". Is that to the main ECU or behind the steering wheel?

Also realized that I haven't connected a couple of the wires back up when I fitted the GPS unit. Anyone know where they go? I know they go to under the steering wheel but don't know which wire to hook into.

That wiring loom is for the reversing camera.

Yeah I read that it can be tapped into to run a reversing camera on another forum.

When I removed the head unit from my old 2010 Hilux, that loom was connected and GPS was functioning properly. Only thing I can think of is that loom being connected back up?

Actually, I don't have the black loom. Only the green one which is for the reverse camera. see photos here:

I assume that the GPS knows your current location when you start to use it?

I'm not too sure where the black goes to. Unit was removed from a hilux with steering wheels controls so I'm guessing that's where it went.

Yeah green appears to be reverse and the purple for the VSS.

Yes, that's right. Knows exactly where I am at all times but just won't guide me to my chosen destination.
