  • Reverse light LED upgrade

The wife picked up her new Altitude last week so the first thing I did was change out the headlights and fog lamps (will put details in headlight thread). At the same time I decided to upgrade the reverse light globes with some LED's.

I went to a place called http://www.blingworkauto.com.au (no affiliation) as I found them on eBay and then discovered they actually have a shopfront I could visit. They have a huge range of demo lights for everything.

Anyway, they recommended some LED replacements from KONIK

They made a huge difference as you can see from this pic. The LED is obviously the one on the left.

    Ad rock,

Thanks this post. Being a shift worker getting home at all hours with an awkward reverse into the garage, this tip which I will copy will help a lot.

    Thanks

...be careful with led reverse bulbs ..... they do look great but most of them don't give enough output light.

Adrock, any reason you didnt go for the T20 (30w) over the T15 (25w)

Does anyone know what the existing wiring would be rated to?

Blakmoth the list is pretty big but im also building a house so thats taking priority at the moment. Once its done ill be in position to give Prado some love. Hopefully by then ARB will have bought out their redesigned Deluxe Winch Bar.

I bought some LED reverse lights for my mums X-Trail. The lights on that are at tow-bar level and were worse than useless. The new ones are amazing. Mine came from e-Bay...

Lux vs Lumens? Unfocused LED's are bright, but doesn't travel far - high lumen, low lux.

Reverse cameras have low light sensors these days, so can work with the low luxes. Just don't install additional lights low because they will create an intense area of light close-up which fades with distance very quickly and cameras don't like that. Experiment with a torch
