  • Low Beam Replacement Bulbs- NOT HID

    Hi Guys

One of my low beam bulbs ceased to work, obviously a good time to consider an upgrade.

I have a 2010 GXL, the low beams were never great so what are my options.

Not wanting to go to the HIDs atmo.

Just wanting to know whether the bulb fittings are standard across the range GX-Kaka. Are D4S and H11 bulbs interchangeable?

    If so whats YOUR EXPERIENCE?

    Cheers

When I had a couple of accessories added (2010 GXL), I asked the installers about a headlight upgrade. The boys fitted Phillips H11's. Produce about 50% more light, happy with the result.

      I fitted osram nightbreakers

they were okay, until they failed after 6 months - so avoid them!

        Snap.

I had the first set fail in just shy of 12 months. Both sides failed in a couple of days of each other.

I have just blown the RHS of the second set in about 9 months. Purchased through Powerbulbs, so 12month warranty is useless as I have to send back to UK to claim it. Going to buy the Philips now.

Yowie, which Philips did you get and where from?

          shodown,

Phillips H11 for low beams only, did not worry about high beam globes.

From TJM in southern Sydney, also available in Repco and Supercheap stores.

The H11 is for white light, there is also one available for the blue tinged light (do not know which part number that is)

H11 is globe type, not colour

I went the Xtreme Vision, but some refer to is as just Xtreme Vision, and others Xtreme Vision 130 etc. These are meant to be similar to Osram Nightbreakers (colour being 4000k - which I was happy with - I dont like the blue tint crap).

This is what I got [link], $40 cheaper than SCA and one of the guys here recently got LED reverse globes from them.

So I guess I'll see how they go compared to Osram - hopefully I can get more than 12 months out of a set!!

              Maybe you are correct.

There were quite a few different globes (brands, colours, styles when I looked a few years ago) I was only going on memory (memory is fading slightly) !!!

I never had any issues with the light produced by the standard OEM globes (Osram), but when one globe failed after 3 years, I put in a set of Philips Xtreme Vision. Within 6 Months, both globes failed. Philips customer service was great by providing me with a replacement set. Meanwhile, I had put back one of the original Osram globes and purchased a Narva globe which happened to be Osram also. Interesting to read how these "high intensity" globes appear to fail prematurely. If you are after more light, I would give the Philips Xtreme a go, but shop around. If you are not fussed, just get the cheaper/standard (Osram) globes.

FYI, both Philips and osram high intensity globes are marketed as 18-24 month lifespan.

My Phillips are now 4 years old (probably just jinxed myself by printing that comment)

I use the Philips Crystal Vision upgrade globes which are 4,300k. Quite happy with the light output.

Is that considered yellow or blue light?
