  • LED light bar wiring.

Ive got IPF spotlights on the car and recently bought a LED light bar.
Im about tonwire it up and was wondering if there is a problem piggy backing onto the spotlight wiring and switch?

Will it cause any issues, would it be better to have seperate wiring and it's own switch?

Also interested in opinions on where to mount it, I have an ARB delux winch bar with IPF spots on it so the only place I could put the light bar is on top of the bull bar, but i'm reluctant to do this as I don't really want to drill holes in the bar, so my other option is on the roof rack (rhyno)

You can buy clamps/brackets for you bullbar tube...........no need to drill holes.

You need to check that the relay and the wire gauge is big enough to handle the combined current.

Fitting anything above the bullbar tube is illegal. Plenty still do it though.

So you want to have high beams, light bar and spotlight to come on together, all the time? I'd recommend separate wiring for the option of independent control and less power draw out of the spotlight circuit

No there is already a switch for the spots so I think id use that for the leds. So its either hi beam only, or high beam-spots-leds.

I trusted you would already have a switch for the spots otherwise it would be illegal.
              From Vic roads website:
"Driving lights cannot be accidentally switched on. They can only be switched on with the high beam head lights."

You should use a separate switch more for being able to select the combination you need.
LEDs and spoties have a very different light spread pattern.

You need to tell us what the spotlights and lightbar draw in watts. What is the ampere rating of your relay (30A or 40A etc). What size wiring (copper size not outside diameter including insulation) are you running to terminal 30 on the relay. Do you want to be able to run high beam with spots and lightbar, high with lightbar only and/or high with spotlights only.
