  • Has anyone used / have opinions on the Axis AX1408NAV multi media system for 2014 Prado

    Hi all

I have searched the forums but can't see a specific reference to this unit.

Alberts Car Stereo in Perth have recommended this unit to me as a replacement for the 2014 GXL standard unit. $699- plus install about $1,100 all in. Seems reasonable based on other options I have looked at and no interest in doing it myself.

It uses Igonavigation which I have not seen before. does anyone have any experience with this. If so, do you know to what scale it will go to off road on named tracks/roads. We were off road in Dwellingup on the weekend and our friends Kakadu standard GPS picked up these roads, whereas the Hema did not have names for them ?!

Here is a link to the web site

    http://www.audioxtra.com.au/PRODUCTS.../AX1408NAV.asp

The guy at Alberts (who are reputable), says that he fits lots of these for the car yards.

    Thanks for any feedback.

    Cheers

Theres plenty of Axis stuff on E-bay(cheap) check that out....$400 for a head unit replacement job sounds very expensive providing it's just a strait swap over and no extras like camera install etc......Usually around $80 for a head unit change as they have adapter plugs etc nowadays...

    What sort of warranty?.....
    Can I still play now I have a 200 series?........Had a 2008 120 Series D4D Manual 6 Speed...STANDARD White, Soverign Bar..........Rear Cage........Dashmat.......GX Wheels with Good Year Dura Tracs........Bilstein/Dobbo 2'' lift.....Safari Snorkel....Canvas Seat Covers.....20%tint..........55W HID Headlights.....Mudmats front and rear.....
    22'' Lightbar......

400 is kind of about right for a 150 considering the fascia kit required. But i wo I wouldn't touch axis with a 10ft barge pole. Especially not for $700.

For 700 I could put you into an Pioneer unit. With AppLive which will offer so much more.

Well... there is so much to choose from at this point time! Not just from Pioneer. Kenwood are testing a unit which has full two way compatability with any smart phone via WiFi!

Apple has released Apple CarPlay, Android has just release Android Auto which is very quickly gaining traction. reality is, right now is the worst time to choose a new higher end headunit!

The Pioneer unit I was referring too was the AVH-X3700DAB. But the new version of AppLive is playing funny buggers and Pioneer australia is waiting for a fix from Pioneer Japan.

Here is something to keep in mind Pioneer has just released the x7xx series of their radios. This means the 3600, 5600, 4650, 8650, F960 and F60 are all being superceeded. Meaning you can get some really sweet deals on these units. If you're an apple user than you are set with one of those as most of them will support apple carplay.
