  • ARB CKMA12 Compressor - under bonnet wiring

Hi, I'm looking to have my compressor directly wired to the battery (obviously fused) with the switch under the bonnet. I struggle to make head or tails of the ARB wiring loom for something that should be a simple install. Has anyone connected their compressor without using the ARB wiring loom and if how did you go about it.

    Cheers

Does it come with a harness? Or do you make your own? Id say the 2 switches would be for possibly air lockers so you can ignore that bit.

I used the at loom arb supplied. It should have every you need. In the diagram don't let sw 1 & sw 2 confuse you as they are for switching air lockers so forget about them It's just the isolation sw you need.
I picked up a ignition source and illumination from the idle up switch. I have a 120 though

Yep trace the wires and just use what you need, (I removed the extras) that's what I did for its bigger brother.

If you are going to switch under the bonnet it is much easier to make your own loom, especially if you have some suitable wiring laying around. Your switching wire for the relay comes from the switch, through the pressure switch and onto the relay. Quite simple really.

Looking at that schematic, that looks like its to set it up as a front & rear locker as well as an override.
Depends on what you are hooking it up to as to what part of the diagram you need to take notice of.

I have one of these to wire up as well, no lockers. My 1st hurdle is finding somewhere to mount it, not a lot of room in the V6 engine bay when you already have dual batteries.

What's the room like under the drivers seat in the kaka fido? If you're not worried about the rear floor a/c you can remove the duct from under the carpet and mount it there no worries. Access for the hose from the rear floor area. Keeps the compressor clean and out of the weather too.

There's a big metal box under there, not sure if it's the seat heater or something else.

Ah, wasn't sure what extra's the kaka had that us peasants don't....

There is a void under the left hand trim in the cargo area above the rear wheel in GXL's that looks like a compressor might fit......

My 120 Grande had a large metal box underneath the drivers seat which was the CD Stacker and DVD drive for the GPS Maps. Perhaps the same deal in the Kaka?

My compressor was installed in the dual battery spot and I'm moving it and connecting it up to a new dual battery with a switch under the bonnect. The ARB loom just looks overly complicated for what I need.

I would like to make the cable myself. Please confirm my understanding, red and black from the battery goes to 'motor power' directly. A switch just links/ break the the connection between the two connectors / ' pressure switch' - excuse the terminolgy.

No Craig, that's under the front passenger seat on mine. I know because I had to find it to swap the map disc out.
