  • Increase (or disable) Accessories Power Timeout?

Does anyone know if it's possible to increase the timeout period, or even disable the automatic power down of the Accessories function? When sitting parked listening to the stereo it's rather annoying (and unnecessary) that it keeps switching off every 20 mins. The vehicle has a decent sized main battery, and is obviously capable of running the stereo for more than 20 mins without flattening the battery.

    Thanks in advance.

    Cheers,

    David.

Thanks Andrew, but that thread doesn't answer the question. I'm aware that switching the engine off with the gear selector in other than Park avoids switching off the Accessories with the engine, but the Accessories still switch of 20 mins later. And if switched back on (by single press of Engine Start / Stop button without brake depressed), they switch off again in another 20 mins...

      Cheers,

      David.

After switching off the engine, did you put it into Park?

Looks like that procedure doesn't work then.

That procedure works in so far as avoiding having to turn the Accessories off and then on again when you *first* stop and switch off the engine - but that's it, as far as I can determine...

The stereo will stay on as long as the voltage of the starter battery is above 12.6V using the same procedure.

That's interesting - I'll have to test that by connecting my CTEK across the main battery to maintain a higher voltage. I'm almost certain it's timer driven though. Today I went through 4 cycles (without running the engine in between), and every time the Accessories switched off right on 20 mins.

                  Cheers,

                  David.

According to my informant, the stereo stayed on when the solar panels are connected.

Can it be done by the dealer?

I asked my dealer (Belconnen ACT) and they said it can't be changed. That was the beeping and stereo timer.

Thanks Piney. Not really unexpected I guess.

Andrew I tested this morning with the CTEK connected. The main battery was above 13V throughout and Accessories still switched off right on 20 mins.

Looks like one just has to live with it....

The accessories will stay on indefinitely if you leave the car in neutral. Just make sure you don't have the car parked on a hill.
You probably could add voltage to the neutral safety switch to trick the car while in park, i haven't had a change to investigate a safer option.
