When idling, turning the AC on increases the idle speed, thereby increasing the Voltage !
Maybe this is different for V6 vs Diesel ? Mine is V6.
Sounds pretty standard to me... 8f you have your fan flat out then you'll see the idle go up but the voltage drop a little. Fans down lower means way less current draw.

i have this and another voltmeter at my rear fridge socket. both are on all the time. do they suck enough power to ever cause an issue by always being on?

Anyone know? Haha I think the current draw is extremely low so it shouldn't be a problem just wondering what others opinions are

If you didn't run the engine for a year or so they might suck enough power to be an issue. I have seen a figure somewhere and the draw was so low it's almost non existent.

            The draw is really low...

My car was parked up for the week as I was away attending a symposium on explosive safety (yeah, thats what I do), and by starting battery was 12.4 volts this morning.

Its usually at about 12.5 +/- a little, so in the 4 days that the car didn't get used, the battery was drained by about exactly nothing.

Same with mine. Leave the car in the airport car park from Monday morning 5 am til Friday night and no noticeable volt drop. I have the GPS and dashcam wired direct to second battery and after the week have minor drop only.

If you're really concerned just install a switch to turn the meter on and off.

                    HI guys,

New to Prado point and new to 4x4. I have done all my electrical setup for 4x4 by learning from Prado Point. Thanks to all those that have posted threads on the various threads on dual batteries, ARB compressor wiring, finding and 12v lights etc etc .

I have also purchased this battery monitor and would like it functional only when the car is running. Aussiguy mentioned connecting the 2 earth wires to a relay. Does anyone have wiring diagram for this?

If you look at the solid kit website it lists it.

From memory you relay the common grounds through the relay and then use a power feed like accessories or direct from battery to trigger switch.

Grab the wiring diagram for a spotlight kit. Substitute the spotlight power runs for the ground. Substitute the head light power signal for whatever power feed you use.
