  • 2012 GX Head Unit Swap - Which One?

    Hi all

Looking to swap out the stock radio in my 2012 Prado GX with something a bit fancier as we're slowly getting ready for a 3 week trip up the coast of WA next year and need to keep the 3 and 5 year old happy.

My main requirements / hopes in the units are:

    - Preferably android
    - Quad core CPU
    - GPS/Sat Nav
    - Would prefer 200mm wide but will go something with spacers if need be
    - Would really like something that can do dual zone video, i.e. feed dvd output to head rest units while we've got sat nav or music on in the front
    - Something that will provide output to two head rest units

I've been looking around, seems it's hard to find anything that ticks all the boxes.

I've had a bit of a search but seems when it comes to the GX not much is discussed.

Any suggestions on a decent unit would be much appreciated, not overly interested in spending huge on Alpine/Pioneer units.

Have been looking at this one, just cant see if it supports dual zone...

    Thanks

      Cheers mate

I've seen similar ones, how'd you go about getting a different switch for the hazards? Mines on the other side at the moment

Yeah its a pain had to go through toyota unfortunately pretty pricey but prefer the more professional finish. With yours being the GX i'd say the hazard switch for the left would be cheaper then mine with the park assist ($330) and the left hand facia piece was another $120 Toyota really know how to hit you for a little bit of plastic. But in the end I'm pretty happy overall and it looks factory.

        Cheers
