windscreen wipers

Hi, an unusual problem I have is when I start my Prado the windscreen wipers move to the middle of the windscreen and stay there. They do not actually work. I switch the car off and I move them to down position. Start the car again and they move back the middle.

Appreciate any ideas what the problem may be.
