    Hi, Back from Adelaide, I did some monitoring of the voltage and basically never dropped below 14.1v during all driving - and I think that is fantastic. Not sure on the battery I did a check the morning after the trip up and had resting of 12.33 (multi-meter). Not too sure on the condition of the battery as I have only had the vehicle for about 4 weeks now. I did loose a little interest in the monitoring of the voltage due to a large oil puddle under the car. - not wanting to hi-jack this thread I don't want to go into too much detail. Rang the dealership purchased the vehicle from and asked if I could take it to a local (Adelaide) dealer - who shall remain nameless. After initially blaming my installation of the "Catch Can" (which it was not the cause - as if it was I would have had to empty 12 months worth) they said they found that the oil return line gasket from the turbo had blown. Well they kept vehicle overnight and said it was all fixed. next morning - still oil but not as much. Drove home and monitored oil level. Got home and oil blown back under the whole car. Will be going into dealer tomorrow.

    Hi BlokeInOz, the reason behind measuring voltage in the morning, before starting the motor, is to see what the settled voltage is before and after you have been using the fuse for a while.

    Your 5.5 hour drive will be perfect for seeing how much higher your battery’’s settled voltage will be, thanks to the long period of higher operating voltage while you are driving.

    I would not be surprised to see say something like 12.3v rested voltage this morning and 12.5v or 12.6v tomorrow morning.

    Hi Drivesafe, that's exactly what I thought. I use the "steed" every day daily drive, but my normal run to work is only 5 minutes.. benefits of living in the country, I know that another can-o-worms, but I give her a 10 minute warm up most mornings due to the ambient.
    I'm heading for Adelaide tomorrow about 5.5hrs, so will monitor the voltage as the engine and bay get upto correct temps - to see what affect that has on the output voltages.

    I don't have the luxury of leaving the vehicle for a week without driving, and to be honest at this stage - only just got her - I don't want to, very very nice to drive.

    I'll put up some info about my monitoring of voltages on the trip there and back next week.

    Hi BlokeInOz and that’s a good result.

    If you have not driven your steed much since you fitted the fuse, try measuring your cranking battery in the morning, before you start your motor.

    Then in say a weeks time, again one morning before you start your motor, measure the voltage of your cranking battery.

    This is where you will see the immediate advantage of the fuse.

    Received my fuse/diode on Friday. Was doing some other work on the steed today so I decided to install and test the results. Very pleased.

    LeighW's product is topnotch.

    13.9v with standard fuse
    14.5v with diode/fuse

    This was with cold engine with ambient 15Deg-C

    He was referencing what other brands (ie nissan) do with there cutting of the wire mod...

    120D4D , I havent looked into that . Even with my ( proposed ) trick there may be fault codes brought up.

    The alternator would have some sort of fail safe mode which would make it put out a fixed voltage in case of Canbus failure. that may be higher or lower than what we need
