  • STEDI LED fog lights for ARB summit bar

    Hi Guys

Just thought I would share my latest mod on my 150.

When I purchased my ARB summit bar I told them not to include the crappy fog lights that they charge a fortune for, as I knew Stedi had plans for a sweet LED version in the pipeline.
I pre-ordered them a month ago and waited patiently for delivery. They arrived yesterday and I am pretty happy with the result. Having said that I was a little disappointed with one of the connectors that come with the kit. Took quite a while to work out
what I was doing wrong (or what was wrong with the connector). Turns out the plastic housing connects just fine but the pins/terminals inside the plastic were not mating properly. Had to coax them in to make them work.
Still, now that all is done, I'm stoked with the look and performance. The halo DRL is sweet and overall they are so much better than the stock ARB fogs.

I too did not buy the ARB fog lights for the summit bar and have a pair of Stedi LED fogs being delivered tomorrow. Did you find them easy enough to fit ?

Hey Bugga. Yes and no. There are fitment instructions here: https://www.stedi.com.au/blog/arb-fog-led-instructions/

However, there are no (good) photos or instructions on the tilt adjustment and how those parts go together. I guess Stedi assume that you are removing the ARB fogs and therefore have something to look at.
Took about 10 minutes for me to piece the puzzle together (one screw, a spring and a plastic lug). It all made sense once I fitted them to the vehicle. As stated in my post above, the real issue was the "pigtail' connectors
between the prado wiring loom and fog light not being the best quality. Again, after a bit of problem solving, I worked out that I had to press the male pins from behind to locate them properly.

With the yellow DRL wire, I just spliced it (using wire tap connectors) into the red wire going to the ARB DRL/indicator housing.

More detailed instructions and a better pigtail would have made installation a breeze.

Other than that, the fitment of the fog housing is great and they work a treat.

Will do juz, I have already run the extra wire for the DRL part so hopefully should be pretty straight forward.

I had exactly the same problem as juz with the supplied connectors to the Toyota fog light connectors not making contact because the pins were not long enough. I also managed to push them through a bit from the cable side to make contact but I'm not confident they will stay that way so I am looking at changing the connectors to some better quality ones.

Might give them some feedback. Stedi really should send out a quality solution to all those that have purchased these fog lights. They have pretty good customer service and listen to their customers. Hopefully they'll come to the party.

Do you need to buy anything else to install on a summit ball bar? There is mention that it does not come with the ARB foglight shroud. Is this required?

No, nothing else is required... they just clip into the plastic moulding in the summit bar

Yep, exactly, but I did end up purchasing ARB clear fog light covers ($40) for protection.

Sorry guys, i do like to double check things... I received the following from STEDI this morning.

Our fog light is a direct replacement for a Summit oem fog light. This means that our fog has a HB4 connection on the back of it. Typically this will plug directly into the standard ARB fog light wiring that they usually install.

If your standard bumper fog lights have a HB4 plug, our fog lights will simply plug and play with them. If you have some electrical know how, you will be able to change the plug if they are not HB4.

Our summit wiring harness is generally for vehicles that do not have any fog light wiring whatsoever.
It looks like the Toyota fog lights have HB4 connectors.
Will these cables reach the ARB Summit fog lamp mounts?

Thanks for the info guys. I've installed the foglamps this morning and put the info on my build thread. (link)

STEDI sent me a photo of the angle adjuster assembled

As stated here, i spliced the DRL cable into the bullbar DRL feed red cable

I ran the cable along with the bullbar lights which kept everything quite tidy

I also suffered from poor connectors which were broken, did not fit and did not make electrical contact.
