  • iPhone connectivity to 2012 150 series

When I first got the car ( a 2012 Altitude which came with Sat Nav) , with the iPhone plugged into the USB connection, I could choose and play music with the controller on the (factory) stereo / sat nav screen . After about 12 months (and probably a change from an iPhone 4 to 5 then 6 and associated updates to iOS), I can still play music through the USB but can't operate it from the car controls. I have raised this with Toyota but they generally adopt a blank look and say they have plugged in their iPhone and the phone works fine ... which is true but not how it was when we got it.
I imagine that the software in the stereo / satnav is no longer compatible with the iOS version.
Has anyone had the issue and / or been able to solve it?
    Cheers,
    Andrew

I remember something in bluetooth settings that you need to authorise a phone to allow buttons from the car system to control said phone.. Same as for text messages etc.. Seen this on Toyota's before.

If it is using car play, try going to Settings > General > CarPlay > Available Cars and select your car. Or delete everything and add it to the car/bluetooth etc and start again. Sometimes a fresh load sorts it.

Iphones seem to be bastards with pairing to headunits in Prados. My sister had hells own troubles getting her 6 to work the the headunit- My Galaxy 8+ just worked with no fuss. It might be worth getting an older Iphone and seeing if it still works- that might narrow the trouble down a bit.
