Where does everyone mount their handset? I am having my UHF fitted shortly and I have no idea where to mount my handset. Yes everything is in my handset so the unit itself will be out of site.

I mounted mine between the steering wheel and the stero- I find that it's out of the way and I can always see what channel the radio is on without moving my head. I have the cable routed under the steering wheel into the back of the dash where the base unit is mounted. I didn't like the idea of having it hanging off the side of the kick panel like a lot of people do and I'm really tall so I don't want any cables dangling that can hit my knee.1 Photo

Wow, hard to keep up with that :P
I mounted the handpiece with the mounting plate that GME provide- the mounting plate is held to the dash with 3M tape, the good stuff not the cheap crap. The base unit is mounted behind the headunit in the bowels of the dash. I've ziptied it in place to the metal reinforcing bar that runs through the center of the dash- it doesn't go anywhere and I've not heard any rattles.

How often do you plan to use it? Mine is all in the handset also and plugs in to and rj45 socket in the dash and I just drop it in drink holder or wherever (so no mounts anywhere). The rest of the time it lives in the centre console.2013 Prado 150 Altitude

Just be careful it is not wedged in with the push-to-talk button depressed.Originally posted by SaltBoxII View Post....I just drop it in drink holder or wherever (so no mounts anywhere). .....
Many years ago, before pron was on SBS we listened to a young gentleman and his lady friend hard at it in the Sky High car park on Mount Dandenong.
More recently, I followed a car up the Hume with a young couple heading for Sydney and the transmit jammed on. Quite boring and they drifted in and out of range. What was interesting was the complete change of conversation when they changed drivers.
