  • Looking for an Inverter- Redarc or cheapie?

As the title suggests I'm looking at getting an inverter for my rig. I'm after something of reasonable size that can run some decent sized stuff without too much drama. I've seen that supercenter have a unit for a pretty reasonable price and that the redarc ones are a lot more expensive (paying for the name no doubt, but it obviously will be a better built unit). Has anyone had any negative experiences with cheaper inverters? I'd look at wiring a fuse and switch in so I don't burn my car down if it goes pear shaped, and I'd probably keep it off while not touring as I don't need it. I don't know a heck of a lot about electronics so I'd appreciate feedback and info from people that do.

    Cheers.

About the only thing I can suggest is to ensure its a pure sine wave invertor so you can charge sensitive gear like mobile tablets cameras etc... other than that if you’re looking to run something more substantial make sure the investors peak wattage can handle the items start up load.

Don’t buy an overpriced redarc, just go with a genuine inverter manufacturer.
Victron energy make great solid inverters for a reasonable price. As many sizes as you could ask for.
