  • Infotainment Spontaneously turns off

Hi, I have a 2012 Altitude which is having some issues with infotainment system. Basically as I’m driving it turns off (as if turned off at the off button) then restarts almost immediately, this happens after approx 40min driving, it doesn’t correspond with bumps or braking. To me it sounds like a temp issue seeing it’s winter here and I have the heater on. Has anyone else had the same issue?
    thanks

Sounds like either a dry solder joint somewhere (hopefully not) or one of the connections are not a tight as the should be heat will impact that was well... expansion- contraction blah blah blah.. check all crimp joints

The infotainment system on my 2014 GX seems to have died completely. If I press and hold the PWR-VOL button for four or more seconds, it tries to reboot, but always comes up short. So I have a bluish screen with some graphics that serves no purpose. Quoted $2126.65 for a replacement unit alone, from Toyota. Hope yours doesn't deteriorate further.

Don't let them rip you off with such a ridiculous price for something that will only do what Toyota restrict it to and have 2 year old maps from new. My advice is spend a fraction of the price on an android unit preferably with a 10 inch screen then run whatever software you chose on it, you can add extras like a dashcam, torque pro digital radio tuner etc etc. There are units available now running android version 8.

You would still get covered under warranty under a goodwill claim to the audio manufacturer

The person who submits the request at the dealer for a replacement unit puts in the notes for the exchange request that you request goodwill on the unit, you may have to pay the cost of r&r but they only take 15 minutes to change over.
you just need a dealer that isn't lazy and someone who knows the system
