  • Disable courtesy door lights

Did a search but couldn’t find exactly what I was after. Has anyone disabled the courtesy door lights/step lights/footwell lights on a MY14 VX? Such as an override switch. I’m mainly interested in the rear cargo door as this door stays open for the entirety of our camping trips and all ten courtesy lights stay on.

Will fot to LED, just wondering if anyone has done it or any complications with doing it.

Also while we we are at it has anyone changed inside lighting to Aux battery?

    Cheers, Anthony

I have 2010 GXL and changed all my interior globes to LED. After about 30 minutes the car automatically shuts of all the lights.

Ok rhanks for that. I’ve only had this one for a week so will check it out. Do you know if that is reset every time a door is open or closed?

        Yes it resets

as I have been doing stuff to my car at night and have the cargo door open and lights turn off after a while but if I open another door it will turn back on

so unless you leave every door open.. saying that though can’t you just turn the light off for when the door opens and it may switch then lights off too?

i have a 2018 gxl and I just have red infills not actual courtesy lights

Unfortaunatley they don’t turn off. There doesn’t seem to be any way to turn off the courtesy lights. My battery was down to 12v by the time all the door lights turn of. There’s ten lights in total

Which lights do you mean? The six roof lights can be switched off with the two slide switches. The overhead switch at the front does the front two and one in the middle does the middle two and rear two. The footwell and interior door lining LED strip can be turned off with the brightness button in the group of switches near your right knee. The only ones I can't turn off are 4 exterior lights mounted to the bottom of the running boards, but having changed them to LEDs so they're much brighter, I've kinda grown fond of the glow from the ground under the car. When my 30 minutes expires I've even been known to get up and press one of the buttons on an open door sill to give me another 30 minutes. I think all 4 only add up to about 2-3W in LED form.

Lol yes they’re the ones I mean. I forgot about the brightness button, that’s a good idea for the footwell and interior door. Even tho they are LED it’s kids leaving doors open during the day that has me worried. Also discovered last night you can turn off the footwell and interior door lights (interior lights) and running board lights (exterior lights) in the vehicle section of Set Up in the multimedia player. So problem solved really. Switch em off when camping If need be and back on for everyday use. Cheers
