Whilst driving through Cape York recently my headlights on a 6 week old Kakadu failed completely. On return to the dealer they claim both sets of lights and their ECU units need to be replaced due to driving in water and that Toyota will not replace the lights under warranty. They kindly sent me a quote for just over $5,000 to do this for me.
We did a number of creek crossings but nothing reckless or extreme, or that would require a snorkel. When I noted that Toyota sell a factory snorkel accessory, apparently that is not intended for water crossings but to reduce dust intake and some other rubbish.
Has anyone else had their LED lights on a 2018/2019 GXL, VX or Kakadu fail and, if so, what has been the response for replacement under warranty.
From my perspective the lights are clearly not fit for purpose if you cannot get them wet in a full sized 4WD and they cost over 5% of the vehicle purchase price to replace.
