  • Prado 150 blower fan wont turn off - even when car is off

So I am not at home to fault find this. But the Mrs said even when she turns the whole car off and locks the car, the inside blower fan is still running. And eventually drains the battery.

When the car is started, the blower fan still runs, and if you dial it up to max it does increase speed. But when the car turns off the blower fan keeps blowing at a very low speed.

Does anyone know what would cause this issue?

It is a 2011 GX prado. Any help would be appreciated.

Just to add when we pull the fuse(25) for the aircon it stops the fan. But would like some help identifying where a relay/cable/resistor is located that she might be able to check.

I would be looking straight away for corrosion from water ingress somewhere inside, have you had a windscreens replaced in the lasts couple of years/ or any accessories?

She was washing it today, and probably washed under the vehicle.

Hmmmm not sure where it would have gotten in, but it is a big coincidence, maybe it needs a long drive to dry out some connections?

I have been reading about blower fan resistors possibly causing this issue, but for the life of me I cannot find the same one we have online.

      We will keep looking. Thanks

Just wondering if anyone knows where the relay responsible is located on the Prado 150 2011. I think this could possibly be fused closed, or have water ingress.

I know there is a resistor for the blower under near the cabin filter, but I was wondering if there is a relay associated with it also?

probably best to go to the toyota service manuals site and download the wiring diagram and the relay layout. It costs $16 a day but over a weekend you get 2 days access. You can search and zoom in and get very clear diagrams and connector / part numbers.

I had water come through the large grommit in the firewall under the brake booster because it wasn't sealed properly after wires were pushed through for some accessories. It caused the starter motor to turn the engine over continuously and the brake lights to come on, all whilst the vehicle was unattended. Turned out moisture had gotten on a plug and shorted out some pins near the accelerator pedal. Hate to think what will happen if the car gets a good dunking.

Awesome, thanks for the help guys. I guess it was moisture because after a few days it has come good. I will investigate some possible water entrances when I get home. Appreciate the advice
