  • Entry and start system fault ?

    G'day All,

I recently (about 6 weeks ago) picked up a 2018 GX that has already started giving me some issues. On fathers day of all days she started playing up when the engine decided it would turn over but not fire which i thought may have been an immobiliser issue, it was cranking fine (ie not slow) and voltage seemed ok at 12.5v, i tried my other set of keys and disconnecting the battery for 5-10 minutes which didnt help, also tried jump starting from the aux battery. I had to head out at this stage so i left the battery disconnected and through it on a charger for good measure - when i returned home that night about 5 or 6 hours later the car started and ran fine .

About a week later after being used a few times with out issue the car decided to stall whilst it was idling in my drive way (had just connected the trailer and thrown the kids in the back ) and then decided to do the turning over but not firing trick again. I ended up replacing the batteries in both sets of keys, disconnecting the main battery and even replaced it with a new one (didnt think it was the issue but worth a shot) all to no avail. Car has been towed now and is with the dealer but they havent had much time to look at it yet and havent been able to diagnose the fault yet - anyone got any ideas or similar experiences? The fault that comes up on the dash is "check entry and start system".

Also in the short time ive had it i also fitted a dual battery system (redarc bcdc) and ran auxiliary power to the rear, that was done weeks before the issues started so dont think its related in anyway.

Thanks in advance for your help.

any update to this issue ? I'm thinking its a fault in the Relay / Fuse junction box ( behind the glovebox ) which supplies power to the ECU , and can cause exactly the symptoms you describe.

OK so it turns out issue was the integrator relay. Car is ready to pick up tommorrow and hopefully no more issues.
